Findings Along the Pacific Coast Highway | May, 2017

This is probably one of my favorites, if not my actual favorite photo, from an unforgettable week roadtriping down the coast of California with Michael. From Avenue of the Giants all the way to Yosemite National Park, and a handful of random stops in between, we soaked up all of California that we could. 

But after coming back home and having a chance to develop all the film we shot, upload any digital images we took and see the collection as a whole, to my surprise, my favorite photos weren't the jaw-dropping photos from the top of Glacier Point or Bixby Canyon Bridge or Half Dome; no. My favorite photo turned out to be a silly snap shot I took of a cluster of mailboxes on the side of Highway 1, one of the many "lets-pull-over-on-the-side-of-the-road-and-take-all-this-scenery-in" stops. 
But for me, this photo represents riding shot gun with my favorite person in the world, seeing new sights, finding beauty in every mile we crossed, and appreciating it all; not just the high-profile places we were visiting. 
Which is actually a theme I noticed during a lot of our trips, not jus this one. Don't get me wrong; Yosemite was enchanting, especially at sunrise. The Golden Gate Bridge and the beaches of San Fransisco were indescribable. But I found myself falling in love with all the in-between stops just as much as the big ones. 
I think its very symbolic for life as well; loving and cherishing the in-betweens just as much as the big moments and grand gestures. Once you have a chance to step back and see the collection as a whole, you may end up surprised by your favorites.
