A Leap Day Wedding at the Paris-Yates Chapel in Oxford, MS | Yujing and Timothy
“I tried to savor every moment that morning, especially after my bridesmaids showed up at my room, but time was still flying by. My Matron of Honor, Erin, surprised me with a scrapbook complete with letters and photos from my closest friends (even from high school!), and that was one of my favorite parts of the day. “

“I was able to enjoy every moment of the weekend thanks to Jing planning it down to the minute. She put so much effort into organizing and coordinating the events that when the day came we (speaking for my groomsmen and family at least) were able to relax and celebrate the day. Things didn't go perfectly, but it was a fun, beautiful event and I couldn't have been happier.”
-Timothy
“I had a mental image from how she described each part of her outfit, but she was even more beautiful than I imagined. I felt awestruck at the first sight.”
-Tim
“To be honest, the first thought I had was, "oh wow, his hair actually doesn't look bad." You see, Tim decided to get a haircut two days before the wedding, and of course the hairdresser cut it too short (I may have shed some tears over the potential ramifications of that haircut). But Tim managed to get his hair to behave on our wedding day, and he looked great in his blue suit (blue is definitely his color). I was just so proud to be marrying this man that can fix just about anything, and I could not wait to become his wife!”

“We chose Paris-Yates Chapel as the ceremony venue because of two reasons. The main one is that it is on the Ole Miss campus, which is the place that holds so much of our memories together. It's where we met and where we grew into the people that we are today. Two, Tim and I were both members of the Columns Society at Ole Miss, and the Chapel is where the induction ceremony for the Columns Society takes place. Our time spent together working Columns events is what really brought us together as a couple, and getting married at the Chapel symbolizes the induction into a new chapter of our lives.”
“The Mad Libs kind of came about randomly while I was searching for alternative guest book ideas. I thought it would be a fun way for the wedding party to create a whimsical wish for our marriage that reflected their mood and thoughts on our wedding day. For example, one of the nouns suggested was “shoe,” and I asked back, “just a single shoe?” And the groomsman said, “yep, just one shoe.” Turns out the bottom of one of his shoes fell out outside the chapel and the whole wedding party scrambled to fix his shoe while trying to hide the whole affair from me and Tim. We all had a laugh about it at the end of the night.”
-Jing
Before their ceremony, Jing and Tim took a few moments to have a first look with their parents.
“When it was my turn to put Tim's ring on his finger and to say my vows, his ring got stuck just past his knuckle. It was as if he grew out a callus overnight and his finger got really swollen. So with each word of the vow, I tried to jam the ring further up his finger, and at some point his mother let out a yelp, which apparently was her weeping but I mistook as a laugh, so then I laughed, and everyone else did too. The ring eventually went all the way onto his finger, and he hasn't (been able to) take it off since!”

“We chose Tallahatchie Gourmet on the Oxford Square as the reception venue because it had everything we needed already-a stage, sound system, chairs and tables, a bar, and of course food. Plus, we both love Cajun food, so it was an easy decision.”
