My #1 Tip for Anyone Planning a Wedding
I could go on and on and on and on with tips for your wedding day timeline, how to (try to) stay stress free, make the most of your wedding photos, vendors, etc. But today, I'm only sharing one tip, and I think it just might be the most important one ever.
You may not realize it until you really get pretty deep into planning, or maybe not even until the day of, but I'll let you in on a secret:
On the day of your wedding, you will be constantly going.
Nonstop. For pretty much the whole day. You will be surrounded by bridal parties and vendors and family members, and its a whirlwind of magic and chaos and love and laughter and happiness, and by the end of it all you will realize you didn't even have a second alone with the person you are marrying.
HERE IS MY BIGGEST TIP FOR YOUR ENTIRE WEDDING:
Find some time, even if it's just 5 minutes out of the entire day, to just sit and be with your spouse. Seriously. Do it.
Just five minutes that you find just to disappear from the world to take just a few moments for yourselves, make a little time for just you and your spouse on this day.
I can promise on everything that you will not regret stepping away from timelines and schedules and to-do lists and the incredibly wonderful, joyous, spotlight of attention to have just a few private moments with the love of your life. They very well could be most important and memorable moments from your entire day to just sit and soak up the importance of the commitment and choice to spend the rest of your lives together.
Tell your wedding planner, photographer, maid of honor, whoever, when you are working out your timeline that you want 5-10 uninterrupted minutes with your boo to decompress and just be together.
Here are a few ways you could work it into your wedding schedule:
- during your first look
- the 10 minutes of downtime before your ceremony
- in the car on the way from your ceremony to your reception
- requesting a space at your reception to go and eat your dinner together in private
- or just sneaking away for 5 minutes during your reception
