A Newborn Session at the Studio with the Hickman Family | Memphis Newborn Photographer

The Hickman Family and I became good friends almost immediately when we met at an open-play gym one day that we had both taken our oldest sons to. Despite barely getting 3 words in to each other as we tried to chat while running after our toddlers, we hit it off immediately. Lots of coffee dates and trips to Memphis’ Children’s Museum later, Kayla told me they would be welcoming baby boy number THREE to their family!

I was over the MOON when they asked me to take newborn photos after he made his arrival. They came to our studio one morning while the sunlight poured in through the windows. You probably look at sweet newborn photos and imagine all is calm and quiet- but when you’re used to your big brothers putting on a whole WWE match next to you while you sleep soundly, the chaos becomes comforting and familiar. Baby Jagger slept through his whole session- unfazed by his busy brothers playing around him and soothed by the sound of them nearby.

Thank you guys for being some of the sweetest friends and for asking me to take your newborn photos and document this new phase of life!

Nothing makes your other babies feel as big in your arms as they do after holding your newborn baby. The bittersweet ache of knowing they were once just as tiny hits you, while also filled with joy for the person they are growing into and getting to see them step into this new role as an older sibling and become big brothers.

Kayla’s mother, better known as Nana by these three boys, joined them for their session as a extra set of helping hands. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity for her to be in a few photos!
