Favorite Wedding Moments of 2018 | The Warmth Around You

Every year, at every wedding I witness hundreds of meaningful moments that make me laugh, cry, and keep me reminded of the importance of my job as a wedding photographer.

As 2018 comes to a close, we want to thank every single person that found themselves in front of our camera. Thank you for being vulnerable enough to let your guard down with us; to cry, to dance, to be silly, and most importantly, allowing us to tell your story the way it happened.

It’s the little moments that get lost in the mix sometimes, and thats the moments we strive to document and capture for our couples.
Throughout the year, I decided to grab a few that stood out to me in my mind and share them with you.

THE ONE WITH THE WEDDING GIFT

On her wedding day, Caroline was gifted a pair of emerald earrings that belonged to Austin's late grandmother. It was such a meaningful, touching gift and getting to wear them on her wedding meant so much to her.

THE ONE WITH THE NBA

Before the ceremony, the guys at Ashton and Lee's wedding had some time to kill......

and some hoops to shoot.

THE ONE WITH THE FRAT PARTY

As we were all arriving at Rowan Oaks to get ready for the ceremony, we all noticed that just through the trees a (very fun sounding) loud pool party was taking place. We knew that it would disrupt the ceremony, so Brad immediately decided to go talk to them.

He walked around the tree line and when we got there, he was met with 20-30 members of Sigma Chi. He explained the situation, and they were more than happy to give the bride and groom 30 minutes of quiet for their ceremony on one condition:
Brad had to chug a beer.
And obviously, he did. Like a champ, too.
And when he finished that beer he tossed the can to the air and peaced out just in time to get back to Rowan Oak and get ready to say his vows.

After the wedding, Brad tweeted about the pre-ceremony beer chugging truce and it went VIRAL. A couple different websites featured their story, even Business Insider!

THE ONE THAT FELT LIKE THE END OF THE BREAKFAST CLUB

THE ONE WITH THE BEST ADVICE

As Katie waited to walk down the aisle with her dad, I asked him what advice he had for her.

“Be patient.” He said. “Larry is a great man, but he’s not a perfect man. No one is.”

Listening to his words really stuck with me. Marriage is choosing to love someone despite their short comings, on their bad days, through thick and thin. I can’t think of something more beautiful than that. It’s growing together. Working together, learning each other, and it’s such a special bond to have with someone. Love is patient.

THE ONE WITH THE BROKEN BUTTON

Laura’s sister/maid of honor made the sweetest speech at their reception.
She explained that before Laura was born, she wanted a baby sister SO BAD, so when she finally got one she carried her around everywhere and took care of her like a little baby doll. And she said even as they grew up, she continued to take care of her and look out for her. As a big sister myself, this resonated with me so much and hit really close to home for me. The bond between sisters is something so sacred and unbreakable.
So after she finished her speech and I was able to finally pull myself together and stop crying like a big ole baby, I remembered a moment from earlier in the day that perfectly explains the love between these sisters.

Before the ceremony and the photos, the dancing and the toasts, while the girls were all getting ready, a button fell off of Laura’s dress. What could have been a disastrous event, was quickly solved and sewn back into place by the hands of her sister. As an older sister, I can’t imagine the feeling of lovingly sewing my baby sister’s button back on her wedding dress.
What could have been a stressful setback was instantly turned into a heartfelt memory between sisters.

THE ONE WITH THE NECKLACE

Haley and Shane's ceremony was more than just a ceremony for them, they included their whole little family. They incorporated Ellie and Ezra in every part of their day, but especially during their ceremony. After Haley and Shane read their vows to each other, they also all read vows to each other as a family. Haley, Shane, Ellie and Ezra all stood together and promised to love each other, to keep each other safe, and value each other forever. It was a beautiful and emotional part of their day!
After their vows, Shane gave Ellie a present; a golden heart necklace with an E engaved on it. He helped her put her new necklace on and whispered in her ear, "Thank you for making me a dad."

I'm not even going to pretend I didn't cry like a giant baby.

THE ONE WITH THE BOUQUET TOSS

You see the girl goin’ hard for that bouquet? Little did she know that the following weekend, the love of her life would be flying her to Disney world to pop the question.

THE ONE WITH HER GRANDMOTHER'S PENDANT

Over the summer I flew to Twin Lakes, Colorado with my friend Kaitlyn Stoddard for her bestfriend Lydia’s wedding. Before the ceremony, Lydia’s grandfather helped her pick out a brooch to wear on her bouquet that belonged to her grandmother.

THE ONE WITH ALL THE TEARS

There were SO many great moments during Lydia and Hudson’s wedding at 409 S Main (check out a few others on our Best Dance Moves post!) but BY FAR the sweetest and most emotional part of the day was when Hudson saw Lydia coming down the aisle during there ceremony.
They had already seen each other earlier in the day during their first look, but that didn’t take away from seeing his soon to be wife walk towards him and towards their promises they were about to make with each other.

THE ONE WITH THE BIG SPLASH

THE ONE WITH THE BOOBIES

Tessa had her Barefoot Bride dress altered so that she would be able to breastfeed little Lettie on her and Kevin’s wedding day. These sweet little moments were easily some of the most beautiful and intimate moment’s I’ve gotten to document at a wedding this year.

THE ONE WITH A LITTLE BIT OF RAIN

memphis-wedding-photographers-thewarmtharoundyou-dixon-wedding-rainy-wedding-adrianne-drew (5 of 13).jpg

Adrianne and Drew were not going to let a little rain get them down on their wedding day.
We grabbed a few umbrellas and went and danced in it!
I loved this moment because it wasn’t planned or part of an itinerary, but it was a moment that is completely theirs; embracing what life throws at them.

THE ONE WHERE THEY SHOT-GUNNED A BEER TOGETHER

After their ceremony, Lindsey turned to me and asked, “Would you mind taking a picture of us shot-gunning a beer together?”
DUH.

There is nothing more impossible than trying to narrow down and select a handful of my favorite moments. I love them all.
