A Woodsy Wedding at Summit Lodge in Killington, Vermont | Carissa & Matt

“We asked our wedding party and close family to arrive on Thursday for the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, so for some, it was a three day party, which is just our style as well! We loved having so much time with family and friends and we will never forget it!

The welcome party the day before the wedding was very much our style as well - very low key, everyone just hanging out and mingling. The kids playing in the pool and our friends hanging at the bar. The food truck and ice cream cart were surprises and were a huge hit, for both the grownups and the kids. We tried to have surprises for everyone, and make the weekend very special.“

“We wanted our destination wedding to be somewhere that is meaningful to us. We love Vermont, we spend a lot of time there in the winter snowboarding. We also wanted to have everything in one place, and the ability to have everyone stay there for the weekend. The Summit Lodge had everything we wanted. We fell in love with it's rustic Vermont charm, as well as the beautiful grounds and all of the amenities - outdoor pool, hot tub, plunge pool, Irish pub in basement with pool table, darts, huge yard with lots of outdoor games and fire pit. The view of Killington Mountain behind the gazebo
where we got married is incredible as well!”

“Walking down the aisle was very surreal. I thought I might forget to smile, but I couldn't smile big enough as I saw so many loving faces.”

One tiny little detail that caught my eye and I thought was so sentimental and sweet was the matchbooks they gave their guest. Carissa wanted matchbooks, as she still has the matchbook favor from her parents wedding.

“Our signature cocktail, margaritas, are something that we have always made at home together ever since we were first dating, and we always make them for friends when they come over or when traveling together. I'm sure that was not a surprise to any of our guests! We even had the venue stock our favorite tequila, Don Julio, for the weekend. “

“Our entrance song, Hall and Oats, "You Make My Dreams Come True", our first dance song, "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel, and our parent's song, "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart, are not modern songs by any means (our wedding could've been in 1988, and not 2018) but they are all meaningful songs to us in their own ways. "In Your Eyes" is Carissa's favorite song and Matt was the one who suggested it as their first dance. We rock out to Hall and Oats at home, and we both grew up listening to Rod Stewart. They were perfect.”
